RECAP

The two teams would not play each other from 1961 through 1964, but resumed competition this season. The Spartans came to Iowa Stadium as the #1 team in the country, and they played like it. Despite some hard-hitting from the Hawkeye defense, they were unable to slow down Clinton Jones and MSU. He rushed for 4 TDs on the day. Iowa was only down 14-0 at halftime due to two costly turnovers, but could not get enough offense in the 2nd half to make it a closer game.
