RECAP

The Hawkeyes, in tying an Iowa record for 17 consecutive wins, fought off an eight-point second-half deficit and the loss of star forward Roy Marble, who left the game in the first half with a scratched cornea. Iowa was behind 48-40 with 17:45 remaining when the Hawkeyes caught fire largely due to guard Kevin Gamble, who filled-in for Marble with a career-high 19 points on nine of 10 shooting from the field. He scored the next four points to keep Iowa in the game early in the second half.

With Iowa still leading 67-65 and less than a minute remaining, Gamble wrestled for the rebound and then spun and found Iowa center Ed Horton racing down court. Horton took the pass and slam dunked the ball. Horton added a free throw to put Iowa up by five with just 27 seconds remaining.
