Iowa started fast again, just like they had in their two Big Ten losses, however this time they were able to extend their lead and never looked back against the Buckeyes. The Hawkeyes scored first, and then took advantage of an Ohio State fumble on the following kick off return. The Hawkeyes were able to turn that into 7 points and had a 14-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Ohio State answered with a 65 yard kickoff return by Paul Warfield, which set up a second quarter Buckeye touchdown. However the Hawkeyes answered right back with a solid drive of their own to give the Hawks a 21-7 halftime lead.

Ohio State controlled the third quarter with some long sustained drives, that limited Iowa to running only 3 offensive plays, but only led to 7 Buckeye points. O

Iowa, playing with a 7 point lead in the fourth, managed to stop some promising Ohio State drives early in the quarter on a couple costly Buckeye turnovers. Iowa then punched in their only fourth quarter touchdown on the season to clinch the victory.

The Hawkeye players carried coach Jerry Burns off the field after the victory.
