W   73 - 72

After falling behind early to top-seeded Florida in a venue only 2 hours from their campus in Tampa, the Hawks went on a 9-1 run to lead 17-12. A double technical foul called on Alvaro Folgueiras raised tensions, and Iowa responded by pushing the lead to 10 points. They held Florida scoreless for 8 minutes and forced 7 turnovers in the first half. Iowa was only 1 of 11 from 3-point range, but still held a 2-point lead at halftime.

The Hawks started strong in the 2nd half, finally connecting from 3-point range 3 times in the first 5 minutes, building a 12-point lead. The Gators forced Iowa into foul trouble, and closed the lead to 4 points at 55-51, then tied the game at 58 with 7 minutes remaining. Florida took a 4-point lead with 5 minutes remaining after making 6 straight shots. The game was back and forth down to the wire. Ben McCollum successfully challenged two calls that were overturned. Bennett Stirtiz had a shot to take the lead down by 1 with 1 minute left, but missed the shot. Iowa fouled putting the Gators on the line, and they made one free throw. Iowa struggled all year with hitting game-winning shots. They got another shot to win down by 2 with 9 seconds left, and Folgueiras drilled a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left. The Hawks held the Gators on the last play as time expired.

Tavion Banks scored 20 points and Folgueiras added 14 points and Cooper Koch added 12 points with 4 threes. Iowa won despite shooting 14 of 22 on free throws and getting only 12 points from Stirtz and 0-for-9 from 3-point range (7 for 24 as a team from 3). Iowa was able to stay even with 27 rebounds despite a size advantage.

The win advances Iowa to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1999 vs Arkansas in Tom Davis' final season.
