RECAP

Pierre Pierce scored 17 points to go with five assists and four steals and Iowa spoiled the return of former coach Tom Davis.

Jared Reiner and Greg Brunner each scored 13 points for the Hawkeyes, who started the second half with a 25-9 run to break it open and beat Drake for the 25th straight time.

Davis, Iowa's coach from 1986-99, is in his first season at Drake and was greeted warmly when he walked onto the court. About a dozen photographers and TV cameramen awaited his arrival and followed him down the floor as he hugged Iowa coach Steve Alford and assistant Rich Walker and shook hands with workers at the scorer's table. Alford presented Davis with a ball in recognition of Davis' 269 victories with the Hawkeyes, the most for any coach at the school.
