RECAP

The Illini were two years removed from a national championship in 1919. Thousands of Hawkeye alumni, including a man from Panama and another from Trinidad, returned to Iowa Field to see Iowa beat Illinois for the first time since 1907. Tickets before the game which normally sold for $3, were selling on the street for $10 a piece.

Gordon Locke had his best game of the season, scoring 2 touchdowns, and carrying the ball 37 times and rushing for 202 yards, a Hawkeye record. Iowa outgained Illinois 355 - 90 yards on the day. Iowa also had 16 first downs to Illinois 6. The Des Moines Register flew a photographer back to Des Moines from Iowa City to publish pictures of the game in the Sunday edition.
