RECAP

A powerful, fast-charging Wisconsin team "steamrolled" its way to another shutout win over Iowa in the Big Ten opener for both teams. It was also coach Ossie Solem's first game in the Western Conference.

It was clear early on that the Badgers were much superior to the Hawks on both sides of the ball. Howard Moffitt tried to run, kick and pass the Hawks to victory, but his effort was not enough.

For Wisconsin, a Des Moines native Joe Linfor damaged the Hawks with a 60-yard TD run and great passing at QB.

The Badgers rushed for 296 yards on 59 attempts, compared to Iowa's 36 yards in 38 attempts. They also made 17 first downs to Iowa's 6. Iowa was only 3 of 12 on passes for 44 yards.
